Join the team and what’s coming up for ECRs…

Dear ECRs,

We hope you have had a good start of the academic year. As you may have noticed, we have been a bit quiet. However, in the background, we have been doing quite some planning. Here is a brief update on forthcoming events and initiatives.

In early 2022, we hope to organise a mentoring session on publications in journals – providing you with insight into the publication process and the chance to ask editors your pressing questions. If you have questions in advance, feel free to also mail them to Tamara (tamara.kool@maastrichtuniversity.nl). Secondly, join our coffee morning in February – save the date for Wednesday 9th February – at 10 AM GMT, 11 am CET, 12 pm EET. Hope to see many of you there! Thirdly, in early Spring we will organise a roundtable on gender and social protection in the MENA, more to follow on this. Last but not least, during the previous coffee mornings it was suggested to create an easier way to communicate with each other. In the coming week(s) we will create a JISC listserv for ECRs that will allow for informal communication and sharing of resources, updates, relevant events etc. To sign up, please send a confirmation to menasp_network@bath.ac.uk by 8th December EOB.

We are also excited to share a call for a new opening with the MENA SP ECR Representatives. If you are passionate about social policy in the MENA, have ideas on how we can make it more engaging, and have about 4-8 hours a month to spare, we would love to hear from you! If so, send your CV and 2-3 paragraphs answering the following questions:

  • why are you interested to represent MENASP ECRs?
  • Your research interests
  • and how you would like to contribute to MENASP?

to Tamara (tamara.kool@maastrichtuniversity.nl) & Olivia (menasp_network@bath.ac.uk) by 31st December EOB, and we will be in touch.

We hope to see many of you at the forthcoming events and to hear from you.

Best wishes,

Tamara and Noor
