Mr Younès Benakki, Keynote Speaker for MENASP Network’s 10th Anniversary Conference

The Middle East and North Africa Social Policy (MENASP) Network is delighted to announce that Mr Younès Benakkim, Secretary General of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council of the Kingdom of Morocco (CECE), has been confirmed as one of the keynote speakers at its upcoming 10th Anniversary Conference. The conference, titled “Crisis and Continuity: Towards Inclusive, Resilient, and Environmentally Sustainable Social Policies in the Middle East and North Africa,” will take place in Rabat, Morocco, and online from July 11th to 12th, 2023.

The MENASP Network’s 10th Anniversary Conference is a significant milestone event that aims to bring together researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to explore how social policies can contribute to creating more inclusive, resilient, and environmentally sustainable societies in the MENA region. Hosted by the Moroccan Institute for Advanced Studies (IMEA) at Mohammed V University in Rabat (UM5R), in partnership with the University of Bath (UK), the conference will feature a diverse range of speakers, panel discussions, and workshops, all aimed at exploring the opportunities and challenges involved in building more equitable social policies in the region.

Mr Younès Benakki, who was appointed Secretary General of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CESE) by His Majesty King Mohammed VI in December 2018, is a State engineer and a graduate of the Hassan II Agronomic and Veterinary Institute in Rabat. Additionally, he holds a Master’s degree in law and governance of public financial systems from the University of Paris I-Panthéon Sorbonne. Mr Benakkim is a highly accomplished finance inspector, a former student of the National School of Administration of Paris (ENA), and the Vice-President of the Moroccan Association of Former Students of ENA-Paris (AMAEENA). He has served in various notable positions, including Director of Budget and Heritage within the Ministry of National Education (2010-2018). Furthermore, on an international level, he currently holds the position of Secretary General of the Union of Economic and Social Councils and Similar Institutions of Africa (UCESA).

This conference presents a unique opportunity to engage with leading social policy experts and practitioners and to explore the future of social policies in the MENA region. We strongly encourage researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to attend and participate in this important event, as it is expected to be a crucial moment for advancing social policy in the region.
