The Middle East and North Africa Social Policy (MENASP) Network is pleased to announce that Dr Hania Sholkamy is now confirmed as one of the keynote speakers at its upcoming 10th Anniversary Conference. The conference, entitled “Crisis and Continuity: Towards Inclusive, Resilient, and Environmentally Sustainable Social Policies in the Middle East and North Africa” will be held in Rabat, Morocco and online from July 11th to 12th, 2023.
The MENASP Network’s 10th Anniversary Conference is a milestone event that brings together researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to explore how social policies can contribute to more inclusive, resilient, and environmentally sustainable societies in the MENA region. Hosted by the Moroccan Institute for Advanced Studies (IMEA) at the Mohammed V University in Rabat (UM5R) in partnership with the University of Bath (UK), the conference will feature a range of speakers, panel discussions, and workshops aimed at exploring the opportunities and challenges of building more equitable social policies in the region.
Dr Hania Sholkamy is an Egyptian anthropologist and Associate Research Professor at the Social Research Center of the American University in Cairo (AUC.) She is a leading expert in social protection issues in the MENA region and a proponent of feminist social protection. In her capacity as special advisor to the minister of social solidarity, she designed and piloted cash transfer programs in Egypt, making her a well-respected figure in the field of social policy. Her contributions and expertise will be invaluable in helping promote more equitable and inclusive social policies in the region.
This conference is a unique opportunity to engage with leading social policy experts and practitioners and to explore the future of social policies in the MENA region. We encourage researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to attend and participate in this important event, which is expected to be an important moment for advancing social policy in the region.
