Enrol Now in Our Free E-Course: Social Policy and Conflict Prevention in the MENA Region

We’re excited to announce that online enrolment is now open for our new, free e-course, “Social policy and conflict prevention in the MENA region.

 

Developed by the University of Birmingham, the University of Bath and our network of UK and international partners, this four-week course starts on October 6th, 2025.

 

Hosted on the FutureLearn platform, the course will help you explore the link between conflict prevention and social protection, with a specific focus on the Middle East and North Africa.

 

What You’ll Learn:

  • Social Policy: Understand the core principles of social policy and how social protection can be used in conflict-prone regions.
  • Conflict Prevention: Explore key strategies like early warning systems and peace-building initiatives.
  • Real-World Application: Analyse the complex relationship between social policy and sustainable peace through compelling case studies from the MENA region.

 

By the end of the course, you’ll have the knowledge and skills to contribute meaningfully to geopolitical debates and challenges.About the Course on FutureLearn:

  • Enrolment in the course is free of charge.
  • The course is designed for flexible, self-paced learning over four weeks.
  • It includes articles, videos and quizzes. We encourage you to use the discussion boards on each step to engage with fellow participants and educators.

 

Certificates:While the course is completely free to join, you have two options for a certificate:

  • Official Certificate: You can pay a fee to FutureLearn for an official Certificate of Achievement.
  • Informal Certificate: We can provide a free, informal PDF Certificate of Achievement if you email us at info@menasp.com after completing the e-course and verifying the records.

This e-course is part of a research programme led by the MENASP Network at the University of Birmingham which explored the shifts in the critical analysis around social policy practices and conflict-prevention in the MENA region.
