On 20 June 2019, Rana Jawad and Bethany Shockley presented their research at the annual conference of the Development Studies Association at the Open University in Milton Keynes, UK. Both authors presented in the stream (section) on International social policy and welfare state transitions: towards universalism 2030? which discussed the prospects for universalism in wide variety of global contexts.
Bethany Shockley presented research coauthored with Rana Jawad entitled “The resurrection of social assistance in global social policy debates: evidence from the MENA region”.
At a later panel, Rana Jawad discussed her research entitled “Critical policy analysis and social protection in the Global South: A conceptual framework”, which has recently been accepted for publication in a leading journal (more details to come).
